The Young SVP ( French Jeunes UDC , Italian Giovani UDC ) is the young party of the Swiss People's Party (SVP) and was founded in 1968 as “Young Middle”. It is divided into cantonal and communal sections.

history

Since the members of the Junge SVP used to come mostly from rural areas, agricultural policy took up a large part. She campaigned for the preservation of small and medium-sized businesses and called for a construction stop for shopping centers. In the 1984 program, the Young SVP demanded that the state stop the process of shrinking farms and implement parity wages, as also demanded by the farmers' association.

Many leading members of the Young SVP were and are highly committed to politics because they worked both in the Young SVP and in the cantonal parties. Around 90% of the members later join the SVP.

Political

The Young SVP is often more pointed and more specific than the parent party and acts independently. So she brought z. In 2008, for example, the referendum against the continuation of the free movement of persons with Romania and Bulgaria was held with the Swiss Democrats .

The most important principles in the Young SVP's party program include public security, strengthening agriculture and small and medium-sized enterprises, the fight against high taxes and levies, as well as EU accession, a clear and restrictive policy on foreigners and asylum, and preservation the Swiss Militia Army.

structure

The organs of the party are the assembly of delegates, the party leadership and the central board.

  • The assembly of delegates elects the president and the party leadership. It takes place four times a year. It also writes the slogans for national votes.
  • The party leadership consists of the president (as of 2020: David Trachsel ) and six other members.
  • The central board consists of the party leadership, a representative of the cantonal sections, a representative of the newspaper Die Idea and all JSVP federal parliamentarians .

The national party is divided into cantonal sections, these in turn into smaller district sections. The best-known cantonal sections are the Junge SVP Kanton Zürich , which provides President Benjamin Fischer and the Junge SVP Kanton Bern , from which well-known politicians such as Erich Hess also come .

Affiliate organizations

In addition to the Young SVP, there is an organization, Young4FUN.ch , which is formally independent of the party , comparable to the Action for an Independent and Neutral Switzerland (AUNS). Young4FUN.ch concentrates on certain parts of the party program in order to represent them particularly pointedly in public. The association has a right-wing conservative orientation, is involved in the fight against the opening of the country to the outside world and is particularly committed to preventing EU accession. The key positions are exclusively in the hands of JSVP members.
