Luzi Stamm (2007)

Luzi Stamm (born September 9, 1952 in Chur ; resident in Schleitheim ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP , formerly FDP ). From 1991 to 2019 he was a member of the National Council .

Political career

In 1984 Stamm joined the FDP and was elected to the city council of Baden . In 1989 he was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau . Stamm held the office of city council from 1990 until his election in 1991, when he also resigned as a councilor. In 1991 he was elected to the National Council for the FDP . The transfer to SVP took place in 2001. From 2003 to 2007, Luzi Stamm was a member of Switzerland's parliamentary delegation to the Council of Europe . In the 2007 National Council elections , he was re-elected with 76,569 votes, the canton's second-best result. From 2012 to 2016 Stamm was one of several vice-presidents of SVP Switzerland. In the National Council elections in 2019, he ran on his own list. However, Stamm's list only reached 0.2% of the vote, so that he lost his seat on the National Council.

Political content

Stamm is against Switzerland joining the EU because he assumes that joining would weaken Switzerland's direct democratic institutions . Other key issues in his policy are immigration, Switzerland's neutrality and financial policy. Stamm is a member of various political organizations and interest groups, including the Auto-Allianz, IG Schweiz - Second World War , AUNS (as Vice President) and Aktion Schwiizer hälfed Schwiizer der Schweizer Berghilfe .

Profession, education and private life

Stamm studied law and then served as district judge in Baden. Stamm has been running his own law firm since 1989. In 1984 he completed a second degree in economics at the University of Zurich . He is married, has three daughters and lives in Baden.

In March 2019, Stamm stated that he had bought a gram of cocaine from a street musician in Bern in order to subsequently report the dealer. Afterwards, Stamm decided to take a break and no longer participate in the spring session.
