Jonas Fricker
Jonas Fricker (born March 30, 1977 in Schönenwerd ; resident in Baden AG and Rupperswil ) is a Swiss politician ( GPS ) who was active until 2017.
education and profession
Jonas Fricker works as a project manager for energy strategy at the city of Zurich . He studied environmental science at the ETH Zurich . From 2005 to 2013, Fricker was a research associate at the Institute for Sustainable Development at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and head of the competence center for sustainable communities. In 2015 he completed the study program for experienced professionals at the University of Education of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (PH FHNW) with the right to teach at lower secondary level in mathematics, natural sciences and sport.
Political career
From 2002 to 2006 sat Fricker for the team swim in Einwohnerrat the city of Baden and was a member of the Nature and Environment Commission. From 2005 to 2009 he was party president of the Greens in the canton of Aargau . From 2007 to 2010 he was in the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau and represented his parliamentary group in the Commission for Task and Financial Planning and in the Commission for Health and Social Affairs. From 2008 to 2011 he was President of the Greens in the Baden district . From 2010 to 2011 he was again a member of the residents' council of the city of Baden, where he was a member of the strategy commission.
From 2011 to 2013 he lived with his family in Amsterdam and therefore resigned from all his offices. From 2013 he was president of the Green Aargau for the second time and from 2014 he was again a member of the residents' council of Baden. In the parliamentary elections on October 18, 2015 , he was elected to the National Council.
His election video, Your Green Voice in the National Council , won the Swiss Film Prize for advertising, industrial and corporate films. It reached second place in the category Online & Multimedia - Internet Virals & Clips and was awarded the silver Edi .
Resignation from the National Council
On September 28, 2017 Fricker expressed in an emotional speech during the debate on food initiative Fair on factory farming : "When I saw as a documentation of transports of pigs for the last time, I inevitably the images of mass deportations to Auschwitz came up from the film Schindler's List . I can't help it, it just happened. The people who were deported there had a small chance of survival. The pigs are going to certain death. " A few minutes later he apologized to the National Council for his "inappropriate comparison, which I made in my naivete". He also apologized in all forms to the Swiss Association of Israelites (SIG), which accepted the apology and warned against the scandal of the misstep.
After pressure from his party, Fricker announced his resignation as National Councilor two days later at the beginning of the winter session on November 27, 2017. In his letter of resignation, he described this as "the strongest signal I can send".
The previous cantonal parliamentarian Irène Kälin took over the seat in the National Council .
Private
Fricker is married and lives in Baden with his wife and three children.
