Bernhard Guhl (born June 10, 1972 in Uzwil ; legal resident in Schlatt ) is a Swiss politician ( BDP ). He was a member of the National Council from 2011 to 2019 .

education and profession

Guhl grew up in Oppikon ( Thurgau ) on his parents' farm. He completed an apprenticeship as an electrician and then trained as an electrical engineer at the Rapperswil University of Technology . This was followed by a postgraduate degree in industrial engineering and as a certified project engineer. In 2000 he moved to the canton of Aargau and was employed by ABB . Among other things, he was involved in the construction of a drinking water pipeline in Saudi Arabia and in setting up cement plants. Today he works for Siemens in the sale and handling of medium and high voltage systems.

politics

Until 1997, Guhl was a member of the Junge SVP in Thurgau . Ten years later, when Federal Councilor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf was expelled from SVP , he decided to return to politics. In November 2008 he was one of the founding members of the BDP Aargau and was President of the Aargau cantonal party until 2016. From 2009 to 2012 Guhl was a member of the Aargau Grand Council . In the elections on October 23, 2011 , he was elected to the National Council and confirmed in office in 2015. In the House of Representatives election in 2019 he was not re-elected.

Private

Guhl lives in Niederrohrdorf . He is married and has two daughters. In the Swiss Army he holds the rank of private .
