Markus Zemp

Markus Zemp (born June 25, 1954 in Beinwil in Freiamt ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

The agricultural engineer with a doctorate is among other things President of the branch organization of the Swiss meat industry Proviande , President of the Swiss Brown Swiss Breeding Association , European President of Brown Swiss Breeders , President of the Swiss Brewery Association (SBV) and Board member of the Swiss Accident Insurance Fund (Suva). He was a member of the board of directors of Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt AG .

After Doris Leuthard was elected to the Federal Council in June 2006, he moved up to the National Council with Melchior Ehrler's resignation . He did not run for the 2011 National Council elections.

Zemp was elected President of CVP Aargau in 2012. In 2016 he handed over the party presidency to Marianne Binder-Keller . He is married, has two children and lives in Schafisheim .
