Pirmin Schwander (born December 28, 1961 in Galgenen , Canton Schwyz ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Schwander belongs since the elections of October 2003 the National Council on. He is a conservative , cautiously economically liberal politician and advocates a restrictive migration policy and is critical of demands for more environmental protection or a further opening up of Switzerland's foreign policy. From 2004 to 2014 he presided over the campaign for an independent and neutral Switzerland (AUNS).

In the Federal Council elections in 2008, he applied as a Federal Council candidate, but was rejected at the General Assembly. He also sits on the Public Affairs Committee of the Swiss Fiduciary Chamber.

Others

Schwander holds a doctorate in economics, is an entrepreneur and an officer in the Swiss Army with the degree of colonel. He is married and has two children.
