Othmar Reichmuth (born January 24, 1964 in Schwyz ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

After completing his apprenticeship as a cheese maker , Reichmuth attended the commercial and administrative school in Lucerne. From 1986 to 1988 he completed the Sursee dairy school and in 1989 the master cheese maker examination. With several interruptions for training and further education, Reichmuth worked in various functions at Hirz between 1984 and 1996. In 1996 he moved to Oberallmeindkorporation Schwyz and one year later became its first managing director. He held this position until his election to the government council in 2010.

Among other things, he was a member of the Board of Directors of EBS Schwyz AG (2003–2010) and a member of the Schwyz Cantonal Constitutional Commission (2005–2011). Reichmuth is currently President of Winter Aid Canton Schwyz.

Reichmuth is married, has four grown children and lives in Illgau .

politics

Reichmuth has been a member of the CVP since 2010 and has been on the board of the cantonal party since then. He was local councilor from 1994 to 2002 and from 2002 to 2006 mayor of Illgau . On June 13, 2010 he was elected in the second ballot to replace Lorenz Bösch (CVP) in the government council of the canton of Schwyz . He held the office of government councilor from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2020. He was head of the building department. From July 2016 to June 2018 he headed the cantonal government as Landammann.

On November 24, 2019 Reichmuth was in the Senate voted. In the second ballot, he prevailed against Pirmin Schwander ( SVP ), with which he won back the seat that had been lost to the SVP eight years earlier for the CVP.
