George Hilton

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

George Hilton (born July 16, 1934 in Montevideo , Uruguay ; actually Jorge Hill Acosta y Lara ; † July 28, 2019 in Rome ) was an actor who often played in spaghetti westerns.

Life

Hilton was born in Uruguay and began his radio career. Contrary to other assumptions, he was never in Europe until his time in film.

In 1955 he moved to Argentina and worked there under the pseudonym Jorge Hilton in local picture stories (photo novels) and films, including Fernando Ayala, Francis Lauric and Vlasta Lah. At the end of 1963 he came to Italy and got the lead role in the pirate film L'uomo mascherato contro i pirati (1964). In 1965 he was seen in the comedy 2 Fools against Goldfinger (Due mafiosi contro Goldginger) by Giorgio Simonelli with Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia as Agent 007 .

His entry in the genre of spaghetti westerns was 1966 film Django - his hymnal was the Colt (Tempo di massacro) by director Lucio Fulci on the side of Franco Nero . Many other appearances followed, for example in 1967 as Kitosch in The Man Who Came From The North and Zeit der Geier , Das Gold by Sam Cooper (1968). Other well-known roles are those of the comic gunslingers "Hallelujah" and "Tresette", which were developed by Giuliano Carnimeo .

At the end of the 1960s it was also found in other genres, with dramas ( Il dolce corpo di Deborah 1968) and war films ( King Tiger in front of El Alamein and Hot over Africa's Earth 1969). When this wave came to an end, he made frequent appearances in Gialli (often as a partner of Edwige Fenech ). In the late 1970s he starred in crime thrillers Violence over the City (1977) and comedies Taxi Girl (1977), and later in Deodato's science fiction adventure Atlantis Inferno (1983), but his appearances became increasingly rare in the 1980s , such as in the horror film Dinner with the Vampire (1988) and the television series College (1989).

Hilton lived in Rome and most recently worked for Italian television.
