They call me Hallelujah (Original title: ! Testa t'ammazzo, croce ... sei morto Mi chiamano Alleluia ) is a spaghetti western , the Giuliano Carnimeo under his Stammpseudonym Anthony Ascot 1971 staged. The film, which premiered in German-speaking countries on February 4, 1972, brings comical tones to its serious subject matter and was cast with George Hilton in the lead role.
action
During Maximilian's reign in Mexico, the gunslinger Hallelujah was hired by Revolutionary General Ramirez to steal a bag full of precious stones that Maximilian sent to the United States for weapons. Hallelujah is not so interested in his salary as in the jewels themselves that he wants to monetize himself. In the hunt for the jewels he competes with numerous opponents; there is the dubious arms dealer Krantz, a self-proclaimed Russian prince and an alleged nun who is actually an agent of the United States.
Hallelujah allies with Koperkin, the Russian, and Sister Anna, the nun, against Krantz. After a violent argument with his people, Halleluja and Koperkin share the stones, while Sister Anna, as agent Donovan, receives a medal for her successful unmasking of the transport.
criticism
"The fresh tone of the staging and the sometimes amusing story make the film, which also impresses with a number of delicious characterizations, a pleasant pleasure," wrote Segnalazione Cinematografiche, while the lexicon of international film found the film only "brutal". Genre connoisseur Christian Keßler praised the film as "one of my favorites from the ranks of the visually excellent Western comedies" and noted the German dubbing in particular: " Brandt is burning off a real firework again here."
Remarks
