Giuliano Carnimeo

Giuliano Carnimeo (born July 4, 1932 in Bari , † September 10, 2016 in Rome ), better known under his pseudonym Anthony Ascott or Antony Ascot , was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Since the late 1950s, Carnimeo initially worked as an assistant director, often working on the sandal films that were popular at the time . He often worked with Giorgio Simonelli .

As early as 1962 he was responsible for the Italian version of the American co-production Panic Button , directed by George Sherman ; subsequently he often worked for comedies with Franco & Ciccio . In 1967 he made his first independent film as a director and built a reputation as an original and entertaining director with a number of spaghetti westerns , including films from the Sartana series and the Hallelujah western comedies. In most of these films he cast George Hilton .

From the mid-1970s he turned back to pure comedies with far less success. One of his last films was the exploitative horror film Ratman , in which the tiny Nelson de la Rosa played the lead role.

Another Carnimeo pseudonym was Jules Harrison .
