action
The English model Jennifer is on the run from her violent ex-husband Adam, whom she once willingly followed to a sect-like commune where so-called free love was practiced. After increasing aversion, coupled with alienation and shame, she left the community and went into hiding. Since then, the attractive woman has been pursued by her ex-lover, who is terrorizing her with her dubious past.
Together with her cheerful professional colleague Marilyn, Jennifer moves into a luxurious apartment in a 20-storey residential complex that the architect Andrea Barto has generously made available to her at a reasonable price. Her previous tenant, the provocative nightclub dancer Mizar, was previously drowned in a brutal manner by a stranger dressed in black. This was the second murder in the rental building, which is inhabited by over 200 people, within just 24 hours. The chief inspector Erici is initially puzzled, but soon suspects the perpetrator to be among the tenants of the multi-storey building.
The investigator pursues various leads and soon suspects the architect Andrea Barto, who is supposed to sell the residential units on behalf of his company for a profit. At the same time, the businessman succeeds in gaining the trust of Jennifer. She flees into his arms when she feels threatened by her ex-husband who suddenly appears. The start of a love affair. In the evening, the unknown killer Jennifer lurks in her apartment. However, the young woman courageously evades the villain, flees and finds refuge with the lesbian neighbor Sheila, who lives with her eccentric father, a violin-playing professor. A few moments later, Adam is found dead - another victim of the villain armed with a scalpel . Now Jennifer is also involved in the series of murders.
Inspector Erici asks Jennifer to stay in the apartment, assures her police protection and tries to find the killer by means of a decoy. But the mysterious series of murders does not stop, other people are killed, some cruelly, including Marilyn and Sheila, who, however, more likely to die by accident. At the end of the film, Jennifer decides to move out of her apartment when she is visited by the murderer, Prof. Isaacs. The music professor emeritus wants to avenge himself with his deeds on all women who spoiled his “innocent” daughter, including models and hostesses. In a wild confrontation with the appearing Andrea, Isaacs finds a well-deserved death in the final scenes of the film.
