Sartana - Killing was his daily bread (original title: Sono Sartana, il vostro becchino ) from 1969 is an Italo-Western by the Italian director Giuliano Carnimeo under his pseudonym Anthony Ascott . The German-language premiere was on February 26, 1970.

action

A gang of gangsters storm a well-secured bank in a western town. After taking out the guards, the bandits loot $ 300,000. The only survivor of the robbery, bank manager Sims, identifies Sartana as the leader of the squad, who is therefore given a bounty. Sartana himself, who has absolutely nothing to do with what happened, sets out to look for the real culprits. Accompanied by trick thief Buddy Ben, he arrives in town and begins his research. He escaped numerous attacks on his life with cunning and the infallible use of his weapons, then he discovered the truth: the sheriff is behind the crime. Sartana marches into the bank with Buddy and forces Sims to admit his complicity and the plot against Sartana. Then Sartana grabs the $ 300,000 he's already wanted for and makes off.

Reviews

The reviews were mostly positive and emphasized the diversity of the story and the fluid staging: Bruckner calls it "very entertaining"; the lexicon of international films "tough with criminal traits". The contemporary criticism from Bert Markus also praised the actors: “As an actor, the film, which is well accelerated at the game speed, is carried out by Garko and Kinski, who embodies hot death with its usual dynamic. Passable directorial ideas and clever camera settings ensure exciting entertainment ”. The Segnalazioni Cinematografiche also noticed the non-stop action and numerous twists and turns, but also saw clichés and some negligence.

Remarks

The film grossed 328 million lire in Italy .
