Gunslinger Sartana witnessed the murder of gold prospector Benson and rides to Indian Creek to find out who was responsible. There he meets the niece of the murdered man, Jasmine, to whom he hands over the inheritance and whose trust he can win. He convinces her not to sell the inherited land. Banker Hoffman wants to own the inheritance at all costs, as he suspects considerable gold finds there. He tries to get Sartana out of the way as he did with Benson.

When the attempted murder fails, Hoffman has Jasmine kidnapped, which Sartana's tricks and shrewdness soon put an end to. Sartana also persuades Chinese Tse Tung to pay Jasmine $ 100,000. Tse Tung then looks for gold, but remains completely unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Jasmine, who always knew about her uncle's business - the sale of worthless land with alleged gold reserves - has disappeared, but is tracked down by Sartana, who also outsmarts her and leaves her with only $ 10,000.

criticism

The Segnalazione Cinematografiche found the film, which tries to revive the genre with ideas, well staged, but unoriginal. Christian Keßler remarks on the German version that with his adaptation of this pretty, funny movie, dubbing boss Rainer Brandt achieved something like sugar sauce on the delicious roast pork through wild babbling. The lexicon of international film criticized more fundamentally: "Violent spaghetti westerns, whose parodistic approaches act like an alibi." Bert Markus found in the contemporary film echo / film week, however, that the film cuts a good figure in the well-known series production.

Remarks

Gianni Garko played the series character Sartana again and again; it is the fourth and final real Sartana film.

In 2017 a radio play of the same name was released, directed by Leonhard Koppelmann , based on the dubbing book by Rainer Brandt. Sartana was spoken by Bela B , in other roles u. a. Oliver Rohrbeck and Peta Devlin to hear.
