George Wang

George Wang (actually Wang Chunjang , later Wang Jie , also Jue Wang ; born November 12, 1918 in Dandong , Liaoning Province , † March 27, 2015 in Taipei ) was a Chinese actor .

Life

Wang studied from 1935 at the Faculty of History of the Japanese University of Tōhoku . After the incident at the Marco Polo Bridge , he left the country due to the anti-Chinese mood and worked as an actor. From 1938 he made films in Chongqing and appeared in the theater at the same time. After the Second World War he went to Shanghai and later to Taiwan. There he ran a restaurant with his wife in addition to his acting activities. He also worked for films. In 1959 Wang flew to Italy to film, then between 1960 and 1975 he was seen in numerous genre products - war , adventure and agent films - of Italian production, where he embodied mostly opaque representatives of his ethnic group, but was also cast as Mexicans in some spaghetti westerns . Wang returned to his homeland in 1976, where he founded his own production company and occasionally appeared in the cinema. Three times (1984, 1996 and 1998) he was awarded the Taiwanese film award " Golden Horse ". In 2009 he received a special award for his life's work in Taipei . Wang also worked in the new millennium, now also for television.
