occupation

The man who came from the north (original title: Frontera al sur ) is a 1966 spaghetti western in a Spanish-Italian co-production with George Hilton in the lead role. The German-language premiere took place years later and was abridged on October 25, 1974.

action

The Canadian military must transport gold through an area ruled by several bands of looters and Indians, all under the command of the mysterious McCoy, also known as the Renegade. The responsibility for the transport is handed over to Major Zachary Becker, whom the former Mountie Kitosch, an undisciplined but experienced ranger, comes to the rescue in an attack. This, in turn, is hot on the heels of an Indian tribe, as they have shown themselves to be aggressive towards them.

When Major Becker disappears into the waters of a river, Kitosch takes over his identity and joins a funeral procession of five widows with their husbands' coffins, escorted by redcoats. The group arrives at Fort Eagle, which they find destroyed; When Kitosch finds out that the coffins contain the gold of the military, they are attacked by Renegade and his people. Kitosch succeeds in defending the gold against bandits and Indians, identifying Renegade as the Indian missionary and killing him.

criticism

The "routine western" swaps the western prairie landscapes for the Canadian background and has some good pictures, whereas the actors are poor, said "Film Mese"

Remarks

The Italian title of the film is Kitosch, l'uomo che veniva dal nord . There the film grossed 105 million lire .
