Kurt Wasserfallen (born April 27, 1947 in Bern ; † December 2, 2006 there ; entitled to live in Wileroltigen ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

Wasserfallen studied chemistry at the University of Bern and received his doctorate in 1977. He worked at the Mühleberg nuclear power plant , at the Federal Alcohol Administration , at the Swiss University Conference and in the Federal Chancellery .

From 1985 to 1990 he was a member of the Bern City Council . From 1990 to 1999 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern . From 1993, Wasserfallen was a municipal councilor for the city of Bern, initially as director of public security for ten years. As a result of irreconcilable political differences, he had to change in 2003 and has since been director of finances, human resources and IT. He ran twice for the office of city president; he was defeated by the social democratic candidates Klaus Baumgartner and Alexander Tschäppät . From 1999 he was also a member of the National Council . He was known throughout Switzerland, for example as a proponent of a restrictive drug policy .

In December 2006 Wasserfallen succumbed to a rare cancer.

He was married and had two sons. The younger son, Christian , is also politically active in the FDP, from 2003 to 2007 as a Bernese city councilor and since 2007 as a national councilor. The older son, Peter, was a member of the Bern City Council from 2009 to 2012, first in the SVP , then as a non-party.
