Klaus Baumgartner
Klaus Baumgartner (born December 21, 1937 in Herzogenbuchsee ; † December 10, 2015 ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ). From 1993 to 2004 he was Mayor of Bern .
Life
After completing a commercial apprenticeship, he studied economics and social sciences on a second education path, and received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. and worked from 1974 to 1988 as director's secretary at the Swiss Federal Housing Office. From 1977 to 1988 he was a member of the Bern City Council as a representative of the Social Democratic Party ; In 1987 he was city council president. In 1989 he was elected to the Bern municipal council and worked there until 1992 as welfare and health director. From 1993 to 2004 he was mayor. Alexander Tschäppät followed him .
Baumgartner was married and had two children.
