Christoph Albert Kurz

Christoph Albert Kurz (born March 22, 1806 in Bern ; † April 3, 1864 there , entitled to live in Bern and Langnau in the Emmental ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

Life

Kurz was born as the son of the businessman Johannes Kurz and his wife Elisabeth, b. Fruthing, born. Kurz's father came from Reutlingen and was naturalized in Langnau im Emmental in 1806 . Christoph Albert Kurz was an evangelical reformed denomination.

In 1823 he started at the Bern Academy to study rights . In 1832 he became an advocate . In 1838 he was appointed chief justice in Bern . In 1846 he was dismissed as a judge after the radicals came to power.

From 1842 to 1864 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern , which he chaired seven times. From 1851 to 1854 he was a member of the Council of States , then a member of the National Council until his death in 1864 . In 1864 he held the office of mayor of Bern .
