Vladimir Sergeyevich Vysotsky ( Russian Влади́мир Серге́евич Высо́цкий ; born August 18, 1954 in Komarno , Lviv Oblast ) is a Russian admiral and former commander in chief of the Russian naval fleet .

Life

Vysotsky graduated from the Leningrad 1971 Nakhimov -Offiziershochschule and 1976, the Black Sea Military Academy PS Nakhimov in Sevastopol . He then served as a combat section commander for anti-submarine defense in the Pacific Fleet , was subsequently second officer on the cruiser Admiral Senjawin and later first officer on the guided missile cruiser Sevastopol .

In 1982 he completed special courses for naval officers and then became first officer on the flight deck cruiser Minsk . Vysotsky, who graduated with honors from the Soviet Naval War Academy in 1990 , continued his service in the Pacific Fleet as the commander of a flight deck cruiser. From 1992 he was deputy commander and from 1994 commander of a missile ship division of the Pacific Fleet. In 1999 he graduated from the Naval War Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Federation with honors and then became Chief of Staff of the Northern Fleet . At the same time he was First Deputy Commander of the Kola Flotilla, of which he became Commander on January 21, 2003. In 2004 Vysotsky became Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Baltic Fleet . By order of the President of the Russian Federation on September 26, 2005, he was appointed commander of the Northern Fleet and promoted to admiral on December 15, 2006. On September 12, 2007, he took over the post of commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy from his predecessor Massorin . His task was the comprehensive modernization of the Russian Navy, the construction of new aircraft carrier systems and the expansion of foreign Russian naval bases. On May 6, 2012, on the instructions of President Medvedev , he had to hand over command of the Russian naval fleet to his successor Admiral Viktor Viktorovich Tschirkow and was given retirement. The main reason given for his impeachment was his refusal to give orders to move to Saint Petersburg .

Vysotsky is a doctor of education , is married and has two children.
