Wladimir Ivanovich Koroljow ( Russian Владимир Иванович Королёв ; born February 1, 1955 in Pustynka, Kashin district, Kalinin Oblast ) is a Russian admiral a. D. and was Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy from April 2016 to May 2019 .

Life

Koroljow studied from 1972 to 1977 at the Naval Officer College MW Frunze and, after successfully completing it, began his service in the northern fleet of the Soviet naval fleet . On nuclear submarines he took on the duties of the combat section commander for navigation (GA-1) of K-467 , the first officer of K-488 and the commander of K-387 . In 1987 he successfully completed higher officer courses in the naval fleet and in 1995 the Naval War Academy NG Kuznetsov . From December 1993 to April 1996 he was deputy commander of the 24th submarine division , head of department and from April 1996 to August 2000 he served in the operational staff command for anti-submarine defense in the Northern Fleet. He later became commander of the 24th submarine division, commander of the base and from 2002 to 2007 commander of the 12th submarine squadron . Koroljows promotion to Vice Admiral took place on December 15, 2006. From November 2007 to August 2009 he worked as deputy commander of the Northern Fleet and then until July 2010 as its chief of staff. He took part in 18 "big trips" on nuclear submarines and surface ships.

On July 2, 2010, he was appointed commander of the Black Sea Fleet by President Medvedev and on June 23, 2011, he was appointed commander of the Northern Fleet. Decree No. 151 of February 20, 2013 obtained his promotion to admiral.

In December 2014, as Head of the United Strategic Command of the Northern Fleet, he reported directly to the Secretary of Defense. The command is reinforced by the Kola Air Defense Association, motor riflemen and arctic brigades and air forces. Under his direct leadership, the military infrastructure of the Northern Fleet in the Arctic was created in 2015 .

In April 2016, President Putin installed him as Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Naval Forces. Since his release into retirement on May 3, 2019, he has worked for the United Shipbuilding Group as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and leads the construction of ships for the naval fleet.

Korolyov is a member of the Presidium of the State Commission for the Development of the Arctic.
