Nikolai Anatoljewitsch Jewmenow ( Russian: Николай Анатольевич Евменов ; born April 2, 1962 in Moscow ) is a Russian naval officer and since 2019 the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy .

Life

Yevmenov graduated from the Lenin Komsomol Higher Submarine School in 1987 and was then appointed commander of the group for electron navigation of a nuclear submarine of the Pacific Fleet . In June 1991 he headed the combat section for navigation of a nuclear submarine. From September 1995 he studied at the Naval War Academy NG Kuznetsov and served from 1997 to 1999 as chief officer and later as nuclear submarine commander of the K-490 and K506 . From 1999 to 2001 he was chief of staff of the 25th submarine division. From 2003, after graduating from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces , he was deputy commander of a submarine division, commanding this division from 2004 to 2006 and the 16th Vilyuchinsk submarine squadron of the Pacific Fleet from 2010 to 2012 . In 2011 he became the commander of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet. In September 2012, the President of the Russian Federation appointed him as Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet. On February 21, 2014, he was promoted to Vice Admiral. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Yevmenov commanded the Northern Fleet from April 2016 to May 2019 and was appointed admiral in this position on December 12, 2017. He has been Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy since May 2019.
