Igor Vladimirovich Ossipow ( Russian Игорь Владимирович Осипов ; born March 6, 1973 in the village of Novo-Shumnoye, Qostanai Oblast , Kazakh SSR ) is a Russian admiral . He was the commander of the Caspian Flotilla from 2015 to 2016 and has been the commander of the Black Sea Fleet since 2019 .

Life

Ossipow graduated from the officers' college for submarine drivers Leninian Komsomol of the Soviet naval fleet in Saint Petersburg in 1995 as a navigator . In the Pacific Fleet he completed a career from commander of the combat section for navigation (GA-1) of a small submarine fighter to commander of a submarine division of the Primorsk Flotilla. In 2004, after attending the Naval War Academy , he served as chief of staff and later as brigade commander of surface ships in the Primorsk flotilla. In 2012 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces in Moscow, was initially employed as Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Baltic Naval Base of the Baltic Fleet in Baltiysk , and from December 2012 as Commander of the Naval Base. By presidential decree, Rear Admiral Osipov became commander of the Caspian Flotilla in May 2015. From July 2016 he temporarily fulfilled the duties of the Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Pacific Fleet and was confirmed in this role on September 26, 2016 by presidential decree. From August 2018 to May 2019 he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. By Presidential Decree No. 203 of May 3, 2019, he was appointed Commander of the Black Sea Fleet.

Osipov is married and has one daughter.
