Wladimir Wassiljewitsch Massorin ( Russian Владимир Васильевич Масорин ; born August 24, 1947 in the village of Popowka , near Bely ) is a Russian naval admiral . He was the commander in chief of the Russian naval fleet .

Life

After Massorin's birth, the family moved to Bely and he attended middle school there. In 1965 he began service in the Soviet Navy in the Black Sea Seeoffiziershochschule PS Nakhimov , she graduated in 1970, was fighting section commander of the artillery (GA-2) on the Big anti-submarine ship Smyschlenny the Northern Fleet . After assuming management responsibility for the Black Sea Fleet on October 9, 2002 and being promoted to Admiral on December 12, 2003, he became Chief of Staff from February 15 to September 4, 2005 and 1st Deputy Commander in Chief of the Russian Navy. From September 4, 2005 to September 13, 2007, he was commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy and was promoted to Fleet Admiral in 2006.

Massorin supported the increase in the Russian fleet presence in the Mediterranean , the modernization of the fleet and the increase in the combat readiness of the fleet-based strategic missile forces. On September 13, 2007, President Vladimir Putin dismissed Massorin without notice . The reason given by the media was the receipt of an award in the USA , which was denied by the Department of Defense.

Massorin was an advisor to the Russian Defense Ministry . He is married and has two sons.
