The Böhme between Küddelse and Vierde

Küddelse is a district of Vierde in the town of Bad Fallingbostel in Heidmark in Lower Saxony . Küddelse is located on the small river Böhme and is rural.

history

Küddelse was first mentioned in 1337 under the name "Kuddelse" zum Kuddi or zu kudde, which translates as "herd". An old field name in Küddelse is Barskamp (brushwood). The family name "Küddelsmann" is closely connected to the village name.

Heneke tho the Küddelse lived in the end of the Middle Ages on his farm near Fallingbostel and was first mentioned in a document in 1438. Possibly it was an ancestor with the Old Saxon personal name "Kuddi", whose first name became the current family name via detours. In place or field names, "... loh" denotes an area overgrown with bushes or shrubs, forest or the like.

The farm or land that belonged to “Kuddi” was probably called “Kuddis Loh”, which eventually became “Küddelse” as the village name. “Zur Küddelse” as a family name or nickname has been documented for a long time, but hardly in the sense of a nobility title.

The course for the military training area

In order to set up a military training area in the Heidmark , over 3500 residents had to leave their homes around 1936. Part of Vierde-Küddelse was also affected. At that time the following were resettled from Küddelse:

  • Heinrich Therkorn (49 acre farm, relocated to Kettenburg in the then Fallingbostel district)
  • Bruno Mohrmann (47-acre farm, relocated to Kettenburg in the then Fallingbostel district)
  • Heinrich Holtermann (45 acre farm, relocated to Meinern in what was then the district of Soltau)
  • Wilhelm Bruns (49 acre courtyard, new place of residence unknown)
