The care chapel

The chapel St. Kümmernis , Kümmerniskapelle or popularly Lutzenkapelle is a chapel in Pastetten in the district of Erding in Bavaria . The listed building was erected around 1870, and in 2014 the chapel was rebuilt elsewhere.

history

Unlike the Lourdes Chapel in Pastetten, the reason for the construction of the Kümmerniskapelle is not known. A votive image of St. Florian from the chapel that still exists elsewhere reminds of the great fire of Pastetten, which destroyed five properties on April 4, 1850. A connection with the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 would also be possible . The popular name Lutzenkapelle arose from the name of the farm at the original location near Lutz .

Donor board at the rebuilt chapel

When the land consolidation was carried out in 1970, the chapel property became private property . Since then, permission from the owners has been required for the inspection. In 2013 and 2014 the chapel in need of renovation was demolished and rebuilt in a new location on public land. It is now at the end of the village in the direction of Poigenberg on the edge of a residential area. The measure was financed by a grant from the Office for Rural Development amounting to € 25,000 and donations from companies and private individuals amounting to a total of € 29,000. The municipal council had stipulated that the municipality should not incur any costs. The topping-out ceremony for the new building was celebrated on March 8, 2014.

description

The Kümmerniskapelle is a flat saddle roof building with an open porch on wooden pillars. The base with the altar wall is bricked. The chapel is unique among the 150 or so chapels in the Erding district. The interior also belongs to the monument. The altarpiece shows the figure of the Holy Sorrows in a splendid robe. One illustration showed a Romanesque Christ.

The wooden columns, the altar , the altar grille and the door were retained during the move and restoration, the rest of the building was rebuilt to save costs. When it was rebuilt in 2014, the wooden roof was covered with elaborately reproduced, 40 cm long and 9 to 18 cm wide larch wood shingles.
