The Kürsingersteig is a via ferrata in the state of Salzburg ( Neukirchen am Großvenediger municipality , Oberpinzgau region ). It leads as a direct connecting path from the Sulzsee to the Kürsingerhütte . For the well-secured climb, you should be free from giddiness and sure-footed.

Closure and new planning

Up until 2001, there was a path at a similar point that had become increasingly unsafe due to climate change and had to be closed after a rock fall that killed three hikers. The markings had already been removed before, but the trail was still present on old maps. The new planning and work on the new via ferrata, which opened in 2009, took over a year.

description

Before you get to the climb, follow the local glacier nature trail ; the entrance itself is at Sulzsee ( ). The path leads at a steep angle over rock bars to the Kürsingerhütte ( ). Well over 100 steel step bars and a thick steel cable defuse the airy path on delicate passages.
