Kōichi Matsukaze

Kōichi Matsukaze ( Japanese 松風 鉱 一 , Matsukaze Kōichi ; * around 1950) is a Japanese jazz musician ( saxophone , flute ).

Matsukaze worked in the Japanese jazz scene from the 1970s a. a. with Shoji Aketagawa , Takashi Miyasaki , Eri Ohno and Takeo Moriyama ; In 1975 he recorded his debut album At the Room 427 in a trio with Koichi Yamazaki (bass) and Ryōjirō Furusawa (drums). In 1981 the quartet album Good Nature (Trio Records, with Hiroshi Hatsuyama , Hideaki Mochizuki , Takeo Moriyama) was created. In the 1980s he played a. a. with Yosuke Yamashita , Masahiko Togashi & His Improvisation Jazz Orchestra and Takeshi Shibuya Orchestra, in the 1990s with Hiroshi Itaya , Shun Sakai and in Shigeo Maruyama's Suikyo Za Orchestra . In the field of jazz he was involved in 19 recording sessions between 1975 and 1998.
