The Křížová hora (German Kreuzberg ) ( 563 m nm ) is a ridge near Jiřetín pod Jedlovou ( Sankt Georgenthal ) in the Lusatian Mountains . The mountain is best known for its way of the cross to the summit, on which there is a pilgrimage chapel . The area has been a protected cultural monument since 1969.
Location and surroundings
The mountain rises immediately south of Jiřetín pod Jedlovou , about 5 km southwest of Varnsdorf . At its foot there is the St.-Evangelista-Stolln , a show mine , as a witness of former mining .
history
The Calvary , consisting of eleven stone stations of the Cross, is consecrated in 1764. The first wooden chapel was built as early as 1759. After storm damage, it was replaced by a stone structure, which was supplemented by a tower in 1886.
Mining has been practiced on Křížová hora since the 16th century. Silver, lead, tin and copper were mined. The last mine closed in 1888.
Paths to the summit
- The Way of the Cross to the summit begins directly in the town of Jiřetín pod Jedlovou .
- The Jedlová train station on the Děčín – Varnsdorf railway line is also a good starting point . From there, a green hiking route leads past Jedlová ( Fir Hill) over the mountain to Jiřetín pod Jedlovou and on to Seifhennersdorf .
