KRT Wasitodiningrat ( Pak Cocro , born March 17, 1909 in Gunung Ketur , Yogyakarta , † August 30, 2007 in Yogyakarta ) was an Indonesian rebab player in the court orchestra ( gamelan ).

Wasitodiningrat was born as Cokrowasito (Tjokrowasito), from which the name Pak Cokro is derived, under which he became known in the USA. Since the 1960s it was called KRT Wasitodipuro (Kanjeng Raden Tumenggung Wasitodipuro), later it was given the honorary name KRT Wasitodiningrat . After he was recognized as the legitimate son of Paku Alam VII (and half-brother of Paku Alam VIII ) in 2001, his name was KPH Notoprojo (Kanjeng Pangeran Haryo Notoprojo).

Wasitodiningrat had his first lessons from his father RW Padmowinangum , who headed the Karawitan group Puro Pakualaman . In addition to the karawitan, the singing to accompany a gamelan orchestra, he also learned the classical court dances. In the 1930s he founded his own Karawitan group called Mardiwiromo , with which he also became known outside of Yogyakarta.

He then worked at the Karavitan seminar at Puro Mangkunagaran in Surakarta , worked for the Indonesian radio and taught Karavitan, composition and dance. Since 1953 he has taught Karawitan in the USA, various European countries, Egypt, Ethiopia and Chile.

In 1970 he settled in the USA, where he taught at the California Institute of the Arts , San Diego State University and Berkeley State University until 1992 . In 1997 he returned to Yogyakarta, where he continued to promote Karawitan and Gamelan. He composed more than two hundred gamelan works.
