The KAI-19 ( Russian КАИ-19 ) is a Soviet Glider for the open class . It was in the 1960s by engineers at the Kazan (Казанский авиационный институт, Aviation Institute K asanski A wiazionny I nstitut) under the direction of the Director and Chief Designer Kamyshev Vorobyov developed.
construction
The KAI 19 is a cantilever monoplane in all-metal construction . Due to the small fuselage cross-section of only 0.36 m², the pilot's seat is arranged in a lying position. The pure width of the trunk is 0.64 m, the height 0.73 m. An oxygen system enables flights at high altitudes of up to 90 minutes. To increase the surface load can be up to 136 liters of water carried, 70 of which in the wing and fuselage 66 in a container. The einholmige wing with a small depth and large elongation is clad with sheet whose thickness is at the trunk connection mm 1.2 mm and decrease towards the end of 0.8 to 0.6. A NACA 64-616 is used as the profile . Arching and airbrakes in sandwich construction are arranged over the entire span on the rear wing section. The self-supporting tail unit is designed in a T-configuration ; the horizontal stabilizer can be folded down to the side for transport purposes. The chassis consists of a hydropneumatically sprung, brakable main wheel, which can be retracted either manually or electrically, and a rear dragging spur.
