history

The Russian design office SAT ( Sowremennye Awiazionnye Technologii - Modern Aviation Technologies ) began work on a single-engine training and sports aircraft called the SR-10 in 2007. A mock-up was in August 2009 at the air show MAKS the airport Zhukovsky shown to the public.

The SR-10 is a middle- wing aircraft with wings made of composite material , the negative 10 ° arrow of which is decisive for the designation of the aircraft. In addition to these swept wings, the side bulges for the main landing gear are striking features of the SR-10. The two crew members sit in a tandem cockpit. The prototype of the SR-10 is powered by an Ivchenko -AI-25W- turbofan engine. The Russian Saturn AL-55 is planned for series production of the SR-10 .

The SR-10 was offered in 2014 in a tender for a basic training aircraft for the Russian Air Force , but was rejected in favor of the Yakovlev Yak-152 , a piston engine trainer. Despite this setback, SAT continues to work on the SR-10. SAT suggests the SR-10 as a trainer between the Jak-152 and the heavier, twin- jet jet trainer Jakowlew Jak-130 . SAT wants to further develop the SR-10 for export as well . In July 2017 it was presented to the public in flight for the first time during the MAKS .

Since then, the Russian air and space forces have financed further development with the aim of purchasing the SR-10 as a simple jet trainer. The SR-10 should be accepted in 2018 and go into series production from 2019. It is supposed to replace the aging Aero L-39 .

variants

SAT is working on an unmanned variant of the SR-10, the AR-10. This should serve as a reconnaissance and attack drone. Instead of the two lower fuselage air inlets, the AR-10 has a single air inlet on the back of the fuselage. The tail unit should be designed as a V-tail unit.
