The Triple Ultra Triathlon Lensahn is a long-distance triathlon event. This ultratriathlon covers three times the Ironman distance: After swimming 11.4 kilometers, there is 540 kilometers on the bike and then a run over the triple marathon distance (126.6 kilometers).

organization

The event took place for the first time in 1992 on the initiative of the extreme athlete Wolfgang Kulow . The organizer is TSV Lensahn von 1924 e. V.

Up to 50 athletes take part in the competition, which takes place on the last weekend in July in Lensahn . Swimming takes place in the Lensahn outdoor pool (228 lanes at 50 m). The bike course consists of a circuit between Lensahn and Beschendorf, with a total of 112 laps of 4.82 km each. The subsequent run will also take place on a circuit (96 laps of 1.32 km each) in Lensahn.

As a qualification for the Triple Ultra Triathlon Lensahn, the athletes must have at least one completed participation in an Ironman triathlon (or a comparable distance) from the two previous years.

The competition in Lensahn is not an event approved by the German Triathlon Union (DTU). In 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2014 Lensahn hosted the unofficial world championship of the International Ultratriathlon Association (IUTA) over the triple long distance and in 2001 the European championship was held.

Between 1992 and 2005 Astrid Benöhr won the Triple Ultra Triathlon in Lensahn 13 times, during which she was unofficial world champion in 1998, 2000 and 2003 and European champion in 2001.

In 2015, 41 triathletes from eleven nations started. The 26th edition took place here in July 2017.
