The DG 1500 CCM is a diesel locomotive type from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) from the 1968 model range, three of which were produced.

Two locomotives were still available in 2015.

history

1970 these three locomotives originated the name of the rating program 1968. DG 1500 CCM meant: D rehgestelllokomotive with G elenkwellenantrieb, 1500 hp engine power, BB C'C ' and execution with center cab.

Dortmund Railway D30 – D32

The locomotives first came to the Dortmund Railway under the designation D30 - D32 . The locomotives were in service there until the late 1970s.

WLE VL 0637-0638

The first two locomotives were then sold to the Westfälische Landes-Eisenbahn and were given the designations VL 0637 and VL 0638 . The third locomotive was sold to Italy. It still existed in 2019 and has the NVR number 98 83 948 1044-9 I-GEFER

The locomotives used by the WLE were used in particular in limestone train traffic and were re-designated as 37 and 38 in 1990 . The locomotive 37 was given the nickname Münster and was parked in 2005 subject to mandatory inspection. An investigation was no longer carried out, in 2019 it was scrapped in Lippstadt .

The other WLE locomotive received the NVR number 98 80 0421 006-4 D-WLE in the German vehicle settings register in 2007 . The last database entry is from 2015.

technical description

The locomotives created in 1970 have stems of different lengths and are rounded at the front. Despite being equipped with only one machine system, they were the heaviest locomotives in the entire KHD range.

The twelve-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine that at its rated speed of 910 / min, a medium speed engine was, gave his force to a fluid transmission from Voith from. The gearboxes originally had a slow and an overdrive gear.

During the main inspection in the 1990s, a sixteen-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from Caterpillar was installed in the WLE locomotives , which delivered an output of 1470 kW (2000 hp). This engine was a fast runner . The transmission was also changed several times. Compared to the locomotives of the 1959 type program, bogies with technical improvements were used.
