KOAC is an Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) radio station based in Corvallis , Oregon while the program is produced in Portland . The station broadcasts OPB's News and Talk programs, enriched with broadcasts from the syndicates of the NPR , APM and PRI . There will also be radio advertisements for local companies. KOAC-AM is the oldest transmitter in the network and the only MW station in the OPB.

KOAC-AM transmits 550 kHz with 5 kW on medium wave. The station is the only US medium wave transmitter with directional transmitting antennas that uses a shunt-fed transmitting antenna (capacitive terminating resistor). The licensing authority Federal Communications Commission (FCC) no longer allows reinstallation of such transmission towers, since their modeling software for propagation forecasts cannot process this antenna shape.
