KOTRA ( Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency , Korean 대한 무역 투자 진흥 공사 ; formerly until 1995 Korea Trade Promotion Corporation ) is a government-funded trade and investment promotion organization by the South Korean Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOTIE). KOTRA was founded in 1962. It is the South Korean counterpart to chambers of commerce , such as the IHKs and AHKs in German-speaking countries or the Germany Trade and Invest , Switzerland Global Enterprise and Austrian Business Agency .

The organization is present at 126 locations worldwide and mainly supports South Korean, medium-sized companies in entering the international market . KOTRA also operates personnel placement programs. With the K-Move project , South Korean specialists, interns and trainees are placed with international companies. As part of the program, KOTRA offers courses on intercultural communication and language courses. Through the Contact Korea program , KOTRA places international specialists with South Korean companies. Furthermore, KOTRA maintains the national investment promotion program with Invest KOREA .

In Germany, the KOTRA locations are in Frankfurt am Main , Munich and Hamburg . Further locations in the German-speaking area are Vienna ( Austria ) and Zurich ( Switzerland ) - this also represents the Principality of Liechtenstein .
