The KSWK ( Russian Крупнокалиберная Снайперская Винтовка Ковровская , large-caliber sniper rifle Kowrowski ) is a Russian sniper rifle in the 12.7 × 108 mm caliber , which was designed for use as a 12.7 × 108 mm anti-material armored vehicle. It is mass-produced in the Kowrov factory named after the weapon designer Vasily Alexejewitsch Degtjarjow .
development
The KSWK was developed from the experimental rifle SWN-98 towards the end of the 1990s, after the necessity of such a weapon became apparent in the First and Second Chechnya Wars . It was initially referred to as ASWK ( Russian армейская крупнокалиберная снайперская винтовка , meaning: large-caliber sniper rifle of the army ).
The current versions are referred to in Russian as 12.7 мм снайперские комплексы 6С8, 6С8-1 (analogously: 12.7 mm sniper system 6S8 ).
technology
The KSWK is made in bullpup design and has a large flash hider as standard . The weapon originally had a sight mount attached to the side ; the current version has a telescopic sight mount on top. A non-removable bipod is attached in front of the breech.
The weapon has an effective range of 1500 meters.
The version with telescopic sight and night vision device is referred to as 6S8, the version without night vision device as 6S8-1.
