Wassili Alexejewitsch Degtjarjow
Vasily Degtyaryov ( Russian Василий Алексеевич Дегтярёв * December 21, 1879 . Jul / 2. January 1880 greg. In Tula , † 16 January 1949 in Moscow ) was a Russian as Soviet weapons designer, Major General of Artillery Engineering Service and Hero of Socialist Work .
Life
From 1918 he headed the test workshop of the First Russian Rifle and Machine Gun Factory . In 1931 he became head of the planning and design offices for automatic rifles. He developed a number of different types of machine guns , including light ones such as the MG DP (1927) and MG RPD (1944), as well as the heavy MG DSchK (1938) together with Georgi Semjonowitsch Schpagin , who contributed the belt feed mechanism .
He also developed submachine guns , including the MPi PPD in 1940 and the PTRD anti- tank rifle in 1941 .
In 1940 he was given the title Hero of Socialist Labor . In 1941 he became a member of the CPSU . In 1944 he was awarded the rank of major general in the artillery engineering service. In the 1st and 2nd legislative periods he was a deputy to the Supreme Soviet . He received the State Prize of the USSR in 1941, 1942, 1944 and posthumously .
