6ZGTW is a former series of the Kassel tram , which was procured in the years 1966-1967 and 1970. Altogether the KVG owned 17 of these six-axle articulated wagons , they had the company numbers 301-317. Manufacturer was Wegmann & Co. , the vehicles were made using mechanical and electrical parts from Düwag . All vehicles are bi-directional. The articulated multiple units were taken out of service in 1999. Some vehicles were handed over to the Gorzów Wielkopolski tram in Poland , two vehicles have been preserved in Kassel.

technology

The cars were two-part 2.1 meter wide, bi-directional articulated railcars. The first and last bogies on the 6ZGTW were driven, but the central bogie under the joint ran without a drive. The two outer bogies were each driven by DC motors with 110 kW output. The car bodies were steel constructions and their shape was based on the design of the Duewag articulated multiple units . The car had four double folding doors of the Düwag design on each side. Power was transmitted using a pantograph . The cars had simple 2 + 1 row seating with tubular steel chairs and wooden seats and backrests. The upper part of the side windows is designed as a vent window. Line number boxes at the front and rear of the vehicles, a target film display at the front and side sign boxes were used for passenger information.

Whereabouts

Railcar 316 was kept for a few years as a driving school car and is located in the Technik Museum Kassel, railcar 317 was converted to a rail maintenance train and was in use until the beginning of 2018, before it was also handed over to the Technik Museum in autumn of the same year.

A total of eight cars were handed over to Gorzów Wielkopolski , where they were still used by the local transport company Miejski Zakład Komunikacyjny w Gorzowie Wielkopolskim . The former Kassel 306 was retired in 2010, the Kassel 312 in December 2017. The rest is out of service due to route renovation. In 2011 two cars were bought, which remained in a museum in Amsterdam until 2011.
