The map from 1932 shows the topographical conditions prevailing at the time - the settlement and path network, the reed meadows and marshes.

The Darß-Zingst concentration camp was a satellite camp of the Neuengamme concentration camp on the Zingst peninsula between the town of the same name and Prerow . It existed from late 1941 to April 1942.

history

As in early 1941 in the Darß-Wieck concentration camp , the SS deployed 50 prisoners to cut reed in the Darß-Zingst satellite camp . Except for the camp elder and the cook, the inmates were Jehovah's Witnesses . In April 1942 the SS transported all prisoners back to the Neuengamme main camp; the return transport had been delayed because the main camp was under quarantine due to a typhus epidemic .
