In ancient Egypt, the Ka house was the cult place of the Ka of deified kings ( pharaohs ) and other people as well as deities . A Ka house could be a temple complex , shrine, or memorial chapel .
In the Ka House, which has been occupied since the early dynastic period , there was a statue of the venerated person or deity, which was ritually animated through the mouth opening ritual and thus connected to the respective temple cult. Mentuhotep II was the first king to own a Ka house again after the collapse of the Old Kingdom .
