Kaare Meland

Kaare Meland (born February 22, 1915 in Bergen , † December 31, 2002 ) was a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre party . From August 28 to September 25, 1963 he was the Minister of Industry in his country.

Life

Meland graduated from the Norwegian Business School with a diploma in 1939 . He then became an accountant and later head of accounting. From 1946 to 1959 he served as an office manager at Det Bergenske Dampskibsselskab . He then worked as managing director.

From 1945 to 1951 he was a member of the local parliament of Fana , now a part of Bergen, and from 1956 to 1959 he was the mayor of the municipality. In the period between 1955 and 1959 he was also a member of the Fylkesting in what was then the province of Hordaland . Meland was named Industry Secretary in the newly formed Lyng government on August 28, 1963 . The government resigned on September 25, 1963. He represented Hordaland in the national parliament, the Storting , from 1965 to 1969 .

He then became head of Bergens sparebank , which he remained until 1982. From 1981 to 1986 he was head of the Bergens stock exchange.
