Kaarlo Hannes Maaninka (born December 25, 1953 in Posio ) is a former Finnish long-distance runner .

Maaninka was Finnish champion four times, in 1979 in the 10,000 meter run and from 1978 to 1980 three times in cross country running on the long distance. He celebrated his most important successes at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. In the 10,000 meter run, he surprisingly won the silver medal behind Miruts Yifter and ahead of Mohammed Kedir . A few days later, he secured the bronze medal in the 5000 meter run behind the again victorious Miruts Yifter and Suleiman Nyambui .

In 1981, Maaninka admitted receiving blood transfusions before the Olympics. Blood doping was not yet banned at that time. Kaarlo Maaninka is 1.78 m tall and had a competition weight of over 60 kg.
