Cable light

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cable lamp (also known as a cable lamp ) is a lamp that has a longer, permanently attached cable .

A cable light

It is mainly used in work areas (industry, craft), where the light source is exposed to greater stress. It is therefore usually provided with a protective cage made of metal - nowadays often made of plastic - which prevents the lamp from being accidentally destroyed.

Depending on the requirements, the supply cable of the cable light is several meters long and has a permanently attached plug. When connected to a socket , the included light source is immediately supplied with power. As a result, cable lights actually also fulfill the function of an emergency light .

There are cable lights for mains power (230 volts ) and for motor vehicles (12 volts, or trucks : 24 volts). More recently, fluorescent tubes (approx. 30 cm in length) or LEDs have also been installed instead of an incandescent lamp . Due to the lower power consumption , these are more economical than incandescent lamps.
