Warma cabinet
The government-in-exile of the Republic of Estonia under Prime Minister Aleksander Warma ("Kabinett Warma") was in office from January 1, 1962 to March 29, 1963. It was officially the 30th government of the Republic of Estonia since independence was declared in 1918 and the second Estonian Government-in-exile after the occupation of Estonia by the Soviet Union in 1944. It remained in office for 453 days.
Government in exile
On August 22, 1960, the Prime Minister of the Estonian government in exile, Johannes Sikkar, died . The office was initially taken on by the agriculture minister of the government-in-exile, Tõnis Kint . With effect from January 1, 1963, the incumbent President in exile, August Rei , appointed the Foreign Minister of the government in exile, Aleksander Warma , as the new Executive Prime Minister. Warma formed a new cabinet on the same day.
With the appointment of Warma as prime minister, it was already predetermined that he would take over the office of the aged President Rei. Rei died a few months later on March 29, 1963 in Stockholm at the age of 77. According to Article 46 of the Estonian Constitution of 1938, Prime Minister Aleksander Warma took over the post of President-in-Exile on the same day.
President Warma appointed Tõnis Kint as the new executive prime minister on April 2, 1963 . Kint presented a new cabinet on March 1, 1964 .
