Kaimar Karu

Kaimar Karu (born June 30, 1980 ) is an Estonian IT specialist and entrepreneur . From November 7, 2019 to April 20, 2020 he was Minister of Foreign Trade and Information Technology of the Republic of Estonia in the Ratas II cabinet .

Life

Kaimar Karu studied philosophy at the University of Tartu , where he obtained his master's degree in 2010. He had made a name for himself as an IT specialist and entrepreneur in Estonia since the late 1990s. In 2000 he joined an Estonian company as a software developer. In 2002 he founded his own company, ARTAXIS , of which he also became technical director. From 2004 Karu worked for various IT companies, including from 2010 to 2014 at the instant messaging service Skype . From 2,014 to 2,017 was Karu head of the strategy department of the London company Axelos Ltd . Since 2017 he has been the owner of the Estonian company Mindbridge , which was founded in 2008 and specializes in application programming.

Activity as minister

After the previous Minister for Foreign Trade and Information Technology Kert Kingo of the right-wing populist Estonian Conservative People's Party (Eesti Konservatiivne Rahvaerakond - EKRE) had to resign from her post at the end of October 2019 because she had given false information to parliament , Karu resigned on November 7, 2019 Succession to.
