Kaisen bust in Borgfeld

The bust is in Bremen - Borgfeld in front of the Borgfeld local office . It is included in the list of monuments and statues of the city of Bremen .

The bronze bust from 1985 was made by the sculptor Christa Baumgärtel . From her in Bremen still u. a. the memorial for Mudder Cordes (1987) in Bonehauerstraße , the Vegesacker Wal-Kiefer , the sculpture man and woman (1992) and the Countess Emma memorial (2009) in Burglesum .

Wilhelm Kaisen (1887–1979) was a Bremen journalist and politician for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 1920 to 1928 and 1933 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship and from 1928 to 1933 Senator for Welfare in Bremen. He spent the time of National Socialism in Bremen with his family as a farmer in what is now the Borgfeld district of Bremen . In 1945 the American occupation forces appointed him to the Senate and shortly afterwards as President of the Senate and Mayor of Bremen . Kaisen was re-elected six times. It had a decisive influence on the political and economic reconstruction of the Hanseatic city until 1965 and is a symbol of reconstruction in Bremen.
