Kaiserin Friedrich Foundation

The Kaiserin Friedrich Foundation for Medical Training (KFS) is a foundation that aims to promote further medical training . The foundation is the sponsor of the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Haus in Berlin.

The KFS is named after the Empress Victoria (1840–1901), the wife of Emperor Frederick III. named in recognition of their services to advanced medical training. The foundation was established in Berlin in 1903 on the initiative of Ernst von Bergmann , Robert Kutner and Friedrich Althoff and designated as the bearer of the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Haus, which was built between 1904 and 1906 from private donations.

As a non-profit organization, it dedicated itself to the care and further development of medical training until the end of the Second World War . After 1945, the foundation's activities were suspended until it was reactivated in 1972 on the initiative of Wilhelm Heim in West Berlin. After the reunification of the city, the foundation was reinstated in its old rights and was able to return to its headquarters located on Robert-Koch-Platz - the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Haus - in autumn 1992.
