Empress mother He

Empress mother He ( 何 太后 , Hé tàihòu or 何 姬 , Hé jī  - "concubine He"), ( maiden name: 昭獻皇 后 何氏 , zhāo xiàn huánghòu Hé shì ) was an empress mother under the reign of her son Sun Hao at the time of the three Rich .

She came from the Danyang Headquarters (around today's Xuancheng , Anhui ). Her father He Sui (何 遂) was a horse soldier in the army of the founder of the dynasty, Sun Quan . One day when Sun Quan was inspecting the troops, he found Ms. He secretly watching the troops. He appreciated her unusual manner and gave her to his son Sun He as a concubine . In 242, when Sun He was made crown prince , Ms. He bore him a son, Sun Hao.

Crown Prince He was deposed in 250 after a quarrel with his brother Sun Ba and demoted to common. In 252 he was made Prince of Nanyang and received a fiefdom from Changsha (長沙, in today's Changsha , Hunan ). In the same year, Sun Quan died and was inherited by his youngest son, Sun Liang . Sun Jun became regent for the young emperor and forced Sun He 253 to commit suicide. His wife, Princess Zhang, also committed suicide. Princess He was also given the opportunity to do so, but declined to raise Sun He's children. (Sun Hao had three younger brothers, Sun De (孫德), Sun Qian (孫謙), and Sun Jun (孫俊), who were descended from other concubines of Prince He's.)

After the death of Emperor Sun Xiu (264), a younger brother of Prince Sun He, the powerful officials Puyang Xing (濮陽 興) and Zhang Bu (張 布) elected Sun Hao as emperor. He posthumously honored Prince Sun He as emperor and Princess He as empress mother. During his reign, the He family became very influential. When Empress Mother He died is not known, but she presumably survived the collapse of the empire.
