The Kakapo Nunatak is a 1200 m high nunatak on the Antarctic Ross Island . It is the more southerly of two nunatakkers 500 m apart in the group of the Kea-Nunatakker and rises 5.5 km north-northeast of the summit of Mount Bird and immediately northeast of the Takahe-Nunatak .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named the Nunatak in 2000 after the Kakapo , the New Zealand owl parrot.
