Kakuei Kin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kakuei Kin ( Japanese 金 鶴 泳 , Kin Kakuei , actually Korean: Kim Hag-yeong (Japanese Kimu Hagyon ), real name: Kim Gwang-jeong ( 金 廣 正 , Japanese Kimu Kanjon ); * September 14, 1938 , Gunma Prefecture ; † January 4, 1985 ) was a Japanese writer of Korean origin ( Zainichi ).

Kin studied chemistry at Tokyo University and also started doing a PhD, but never finished. His first story was published in Bungei magazine and was awarded the Young Authors' Prize. He was later nominated three times for the Akutagawa Prize . Like Ri Kaisei , of the same age , he dealt in his stories with the problems of the second generation of Korean immigrants in Japan. In addition, stuttering, from which he also suffered, played a thematic role. In 1985, at the age of 46, he committed suicide using gas. In 1986 an edition of his collected works ( Kin Kakuei shū ) was published.
